William Lustig's take on the 70's blaxploitation, mafia, action genre - using the cult names of that decade. A New York cop (Robert Forster) believes in the judiciary system until his wife is assaulted and their son murdered by a violent street gang. When the killers walk free, the cop decides to take the law into his own hands, joining a local vigilante gang.
