These recordings several of them written by Charles himself feature a virtual whos who of fabulous musicians from the New York City scene, such as David Fathead Newman (tenor and alto saxophone), Bennie Hank Crawford (baritone saxophone), Joe Bridgewater or Marcus Belgrave (trumpet), Edgar Willis (bass), as well as The Raelettes on backing vocals.
