Daniel Foray (G?rard Depardieu) is the head of the French gang sent across to the US for the robbery. Things go badly from day one. The group's accommodation is unsuitable and they find themselves in trouble with a street gang while attempting to procure an escape vehicle for the crime. However, they encounter trouble on another level when they finally pull off the robbery only to discover that their victim is Frankie Zammeti (Harvey Keitel), a leading figure in the Chicago Mafia. Foray and his cohorts desperately attempt to make it back to the safety of Paris with a host of underworld figures, gang members and officers of the law on their trail.
