Well-known Nintendo characters can now come to life in many different ways, with the new amiibo figure! They are inactive figures, which have the ability to communicate with special games with amiibo compatibility by simply touching the Wii U gamepad.

amiibo can communicate with games that have amiibo compatibility, where data from the figure is read and saved.
In Super Smash Bros Wii U players can play with or modify their amiibo figure, while characters level up in the process. The figure can be brought with another Wii U machine and displayed, with the same level and experience, as you have achieved on your own machine!
Different compatible amiibo use the figures in different ways. Super Smash Bros for Wii U will be the first game to use amiibo. Games like Mario Party 10, Mario Kart 8, Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker and Yoshis Woolly World are also expected to support amiibo.
