Long Slow Distance Special Edition (Album)

Finally! The new album Long Slow Distance will be out September 16. Recorded at Harry's Gym on Oslo's seedy east end, and produced by Cato Salsa, Bjarne Stensli and myself, it is an altogether darker affair than Moon Landing(2009). While my earlier solo albums have drawn heavily from American folk influences, this album has a largely European feel to it, combining analogue synthesizers, thundering kraut beats and echo drenched guitars and vocals to produce soundscapes that suit Europe's big metropoles just as well as the frozen expanses of the arctic north.

I am backed throughout the album by my regular touring band(Børge Fjordheim, Rudi Nikolaisen and Christer Knutsen), fronted by the mighty Cato Salsa, who has also co-written a couple of key tracks. Cato and me have worked together from the get-go, this is his album too. Co-producer and engineer Bjarne Stensli has also given the project his undivided attention, he has worked with some of the most exciting music to come out of Oslo in recent years, and I'm a big fan of his band, Harrys Gym. Outside help include vocal performances by Anne Lise Frøkedal(Harrys Gym) and Renate Knaup of the legendary Amon Düül II, as well as keyboard parts courtesy of 120 Days frontman Ådne Meisfjord.
