Endelig kommer samlingen alle har ventet på. Boksen vil inneholde alle filmene i såkalt extended-versjon med 15 disker og over 26 timer ekstramateriale.

Det høyt påventede Extended Edition (Blu-ray)-settet utgis med engelsk 6.1 DTS-HD MA audio og inneholder en ny transfer av The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring remastret fra de opprinnelige 2k digitalfilene. Settet skilter med over 26 timer ekstramateriale, og toppes med de sjeldne bakom-dokumentarene laget av Costa Botes, filmskaperen som fikk enestående tilgang av Peter Jackson til settet på hver av produksjonene. I denne første delen av trilogien arver den unge hobbiten Frodo Baggins en ring; men ringen er ingen vanlig pyntegjenstand.
